David Weissman is producer and co-director of the award winning hit documentary film THE COCKETTES (Best Documentary from the LA Film Critics Association; nominated for the Independent Spirit Award). A raucous tale of San Francisco's hippie and gay countercultures, THE COCKETTES (www.cockettes.com) tells of the legendary gender-bending theatrical troupe that emerged out of the 1960s Haight Ashbury scene into the exploding sexual revolutions of the 1970s. "THE COCKETTES is not just a history of a magic and distant time, but it is also about possibilities, about the timeless desire within young people to create their own culture, to question the status quo," says Weissman.
Weissman has been active in the independent film scene for almost 20 years, and is the recipient of many awards.
