GREGG HURWITZ

CULTS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN AMERICA
Thriller novelist and screenwriter Gregg Hurwitz went undercover into various cults and submitted to indoctrination and testing. The result of his experience, L.A. Times Bestselling novel, The Program, peels back the veneer of a cult and reveals all the underlying dynamics.
With 5,000 cults operating in American, and 20 million people recruited into cults over the past two decades, mind control is a continuing growing concern. Especially on college campuses. College students are one of the key target demographics for cult recruiters. Find out why and what defensive measure can be taken. Hurwitz’s fascinating lecture sheds light on strategies cults use to recruit new members, what drives victims to join, as well as the manipulation strategies used in everyday life by everyone from car salesmen to telemarketers.
Hurwitz is the critically acclaimed author of six novels, which have been feature selections for all four major literary book clubs, chosen as Book Sense, Picks, and translated into eight languages. He holds a B.A. from Harvard, and a master's degree from Trinity College, Oxford, has published numerous academic articles on Shakespeare and psychology, and has written screenplays for Jerry Bruckheimer films/Disney, Paramount, and ESPN. He has taught fiction writing in the USC English Department, at the La Jolla Writer’s Conference, and lectured for UCLA, and for Harvard at various locations around the world. His research has taken him from demolition ranges with Navy SEALs, to swimming with sharks in the Galápagos, to flying in stunt planes.
