Tom Kovic

In 19 seasons as head coach of Gymnastics at The University of Pennsylvania, Tom Kovic led the Quakers to 8 Ivy League Team Championship and 2 Eastern Conference Team Titles. To date, Penn Gymnastics is the only Ivy League team to win four consecutive Ivy team titles as well as the only Ivy program to win the ECAC Team Championship. Subsequently, He was named ECAC coach of the year twice ('94, '97), while being honored as NCAA regional coach of the year in 2004. Tom Kovic coached 34 individual Ivy League Champions, 8 ECAC Champions, 4 NCAA and 3 ECAC athletes of the year. In addition, his teams maintained an impressive 3.275 GPA over a 19 year stretch that included over 160 Academic All-Americans.

A relentless recruiter at The University of Pennsylvania, Kovic was respected throughout the country for his efforts in matriculating some of the finest student-athletes to Penn. His approach was focused not on convincing athletes and their families to choose Penn, but on providing them with accurate and honest information to assist them in reaching their college decision comfortably. By cultivating an honest relationship with students and their families early on, Coach Kovic was confident that encouragement and praise for his approach would spread in time.

Tom Kovic launched Victory Collegiate Consulting on July 1, 2006 and in the last year alone, he has conducted over 100 seminars to over 2,500 participants on college recruiting. Tom has been invited to speak at regional and national conventions for USA Gymnastics, US Lacrosse, The Princeton Review and numerous institutions and private sports organizations throughout the country. He currently provides personal advisement for families in 11 states throughout the United States. On January 13, 2008 Kovic will launch the Victory Webinar Series in an effort to incorporate long distance, online learning for parents and their children on how to prepare for the college quest.

Kovic is the author of "Reaching for Excellence" an educational guide for college athletics recruiting. In addition, he is a monthly contributor to The Courier Times (New Jersey), Raising Champions (Pennsylvania), CollegeLax magazine and USAIGC in the areas of college recruitment and youth leadership. He is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Western Association for College Admissions Counseling and The Independent Education Counselors Association.

Kovic is an educator at heart who spearheaded several innovative programs at Penn including youth leadership seminars, weekend children's sports programs, Victory Summer Camp and the first athletic department sponsored community outreach program for West Philadelphia children in 1992.

Tom Kovic and his wife Jennifer live with their daughter Hannah Katherine in Boothwyn, Pennsylvania.
